What is network controller?
A network interface controller (NIC) is a network adapter which when installed into your system, enables you to connect your computer into a network. It, thus, acts as an interface to a computer network and controls the access of your system to the network. Every network interface card is equipped with a unique 48-bit serial number called a Media Access Control (MAC) address which is stored in the ROM chip carried by the card. This MAC address helps in the unique identification of your system in the network.
Reasons for controller problems
The most frequent problem encountered is the non-recognition of your network adapter. This could be caused by the presence of an incompatible network adapter. As the controller requires a driver for it to function properly, the lack of the required drivers could also contribute to network controller problems. Occasionally, improper formatting of your operating system could also cause issues. Sometimes, the BIOS settings could also contribute to controller problems.
To ensure proper functioning of your network controller, you are required to ensure that the network adapter is properly installed in your system. All the required drivers need to be installed in your system. Both the network controller and its drivers are required to be supported by your LifeBook hardware. A list of drivers compatible with your Fujitsu LifeBook P1630 Tablet PC is available on the Fujitsu website. Alternatively, you could also download the drivers from the manufacturer's website of your network controller.
