General Method of Password Reset

Once you have already set the password for your Windows and if you want to reset that password into a stronger one to keep the system more secure, the normal way of password changing is by pressing ‘Alt, Ctrl and Delete’ buttons together. Use Password Reset Disk

If you have forgotten your Windows password, you can use a password reset disk to reset a new password. You need to create a password reset disk while you set the password for the first time. It will help you in accessing the files and information in your system. If you have created the disk, you can get into the option to use the password reset disk to reset the password and the wizard will guide you through the steps for the process.

Use Administrator Account

In this method, you need to log on to the administrator account. You can do it by typing ‘lusrmgr.msc’ in the search box and by clicking ‘Enter’. Hi, my granddaughters computer is a Fujitsu amilo Vista OS and she has forgotten her password, whilst she was putting in many passwords in order to regain access she totally confused herself and the machine. In order to get her back onto the machine Vista was reloaded and the hard drive was automatically partitioned. It worked for a while but has since faild and access is denighed without a unknown password. Can not gain access through the BIOS either.
Hope you can help, regards, FH

If the login password for the account is what’s lost, you can try enabling the Default Administrator account. Once you do, you will be able to delete (or change) the password of the usual administrator account you log in to. Follow these steps:

      • Start the computer and tap the f8 key immediately.
      • When you get to the advanced boot options, select ‘Repair your computer’.
      • Select ‘Command Prompt’ from the list of options.
      • At the prompt, type the command ‘net user administrator /active:yes’ without the quotes and press enter.
      • Restart the computer and login to this ‘Administrator’ account (does not need a password by default).
      • Go to Start> Control Panel> User Accounts and remove or change the password of your user account.
      • Logoff and login to your usual account.
      • To disable the default account again, click start, type ‘cmd’ in the search field, right click on ‘cmd’ in the list and click ‘Run as Administrator’.
      • Type the command ‘net user administrator /active:no’.

If need to reset the BIOS password, try one of these steps:

      1. To do this, clear the CMOS. Some computers have a CMOS jumper right next to the CMOS battery (looks like a coin). It is basically three pins with the jumper over two of them. If you see that, you can simply move the jumper over to the middle pin and the last pin, leave it there for 5 seconds and then put it back.
      2. If there is no jumper, remove the CMOS battery and place it back in after about 30 seconds.

      Hope it helped.
